Second class had a great trip today to get to know their home city a little better. The first stop was Fitzgerald’s Park where they learned to count the rings of a felled tree to tell its age. Then after exploring some more it was on to the Shakey Bridge. That was great fun! Next stop was The Lough where they got very close to some hungry geese, pigeons and seagulls. The geese seemed to be asking to share the girl’s lunches. It was on to St Finbarr’s Cathedral next where there was a really interesting guided tour. The organ there has 4,000 pipes! Amazing!! It was starting to rain by the time Bishop Lucey park was reached so it was a quick walk to see the statue of the Onion Seller and the fountain with the eight swans. The English Market was really exciting especially when the fishmonger who made the Queen laugh took a lobster out of the tank and wanted the girls to shake hands with it. The last stop finished off a fantastic day with a lovely treat… McDonalds …
