St Brendan’s has a strong and proud tradition of sport. We recognise the importance of physical exercise and the enjoyment the girls get from these activities. We encourage and give the girls opportunities, to try out many different sports. Our main school sports are Tennis, Irish Dancing, Gaelic Football, Indoor Camogie, Basketball, Athletics and Swimming. The girls are also participating in a course of Gymnastics being given by a specialist Gymnastics teacher this year. The girls are also given the opportunity to try out numerous other activities during the course of their time here.

Camogie

St Brendan’s GNS are holding indoor camogie training sessions for girls from 3rd class to 6th class. In January 2024 the girls played their first blitz in a few years. Most of the girls had not played camogie before but put in a great effort and thoroughly enjoyed the day. They went onto compete in Sciath na Scol and did the whole school proud with their efforts!

Gaelic Football

St Brendan’s GNS has a great history of gaelic football. This year, 2024/2025, our gaelic football team reached the Sciath na Scol Final in Páirc Uí Chaoimh and did the school and their families very proud. We know there is more to come!

Athletics

St Brendan’s GNS always has a strong representation at the Cork City Sports every year. Well done to all of the girls that get the opportunity to compete and represent the school and showcase the school’s athletic talents.

Basketball

St Brendan’s GNS offers girls basketball training and tournaments throughout the year. The girls love it and have improved a huge amount.

Soccer

St Brendan’s GNS restarted the school’s soccer team in 2023/2024. The girls played in the FAI 5-a-side Soccer Competition in Blarney and made the whole school very proud. Hopefully more to come as there is huge potential in this group!
