Today two members of the army, Lt.James McKeon and Gunner Paul O’Rourke came to the school to present the Irish Flag. They were greeted with Amhrán na bhFiann and then they spoke to those assembled about 1916, the Proclamation, the flag and the upcoming celebrations. Girls from fifth and sixth class then read the Proclamation before the flag was presented to Molly and Courtney, who represented the school. The girls then asked a lot of very interesting before the senior flute players played ‘The South Wind.’ The choir then sang ‘Grace’ and recited the poem ‘I See His Blood Upon The Rose.’
It was a really lovely ceremony and we would like to thank Lt. MeKeon and Gunner O’Rourke for spending so much time with us.
